It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herman Vincent Korte, affectionately known as "Vince", who departed this world peacefully on December 21, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 30, 1932, in Marysville, Indiana, to the late Herman H. and Willie (nee Scott) Korte.
Vince was a devoted Catholic who found solace and strength in his faith. His warmth and humor were felt by all who knew him-his sharp wit and sarcasm often sparking laughter and camaraderie among family and friends. He was a man with clear visions of what he wanted out of life, and he lived with purpose and intention.
Vince proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from 1952 to 1956, embodying the values of duty and honor. After his service he pursued a career as a systems engineer at International Business Machines for over 30 years, Vince's true joy came from the simple pleasures in life. He cherished long Sunday drives exploring the countryside and enjoyed every moment spent traveling with his loved ones. A passionate woodworking enthusiast, he found creativity and peace in crafting beautiful pieces that would be treasured by family.
Vince was also an avid bird watcher and feeder, relishing the serenity of nature from the comfort of his backyard. He found joy in fishing and duck hunting, where he formed lasting memories with loved ones and developed a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.
Vince was the devoted husband of 41 years to the late Norma Jean Korte (nee Kleinhenz); Loving father of Kathy (Greg) King and Karen (the late Les) Carney; Dear grandfather of Cassie (Chris) Hardiman, Ryan King, McCall Dillon, and Sawyer Dillon; Great grandfather of Kristi and Kendra Hardiman.
Along with his wife, parents, and son-in-law, Vince is preceded in death by his sister Laverne Nichols.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
