Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Age 81. Residence Milford, Ohio.
A proud graduate and valedictorian of Homer High School, Homer was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science Accounting from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky in 1969. He continued his education by earning his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1975.
Homer was recruited by and accepted a position with the General Accounting Office (GAO) division of the US Government after graduating from Murray State. He was honored to serve his country for over 25 years before retiring in 1995.
Homer's position at the GAO required frequent foreign and domestic travel, which developed into a life-long love. It was common for him to include his family in his travel plans, first with his wife, then children, and then grandchildren. One of his favorite trips was a cruise to Alaska with his entire family, thus fulfilling his goal of setting foot in every state in the US.
Homer spent his free time enjoying life with his family. He spent many years coaching his children's community softball and basketball teams. He was a loyal Reds and Bengals fan, even through the many, many rough seasons. He loved listening and dancing to music. He loved bopping along to Johnny Cash, CCR, and Duane Eddie. He liked large family gatherings that included card games and BINGO, and maybe included a friendly wager.
A memorial service for Homer will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 10:00 AM at the Milford First United Methodist Church, 541 Main St., Milford, OH 45150.
