Imogene Kaufmann, a beloved wife, devoted mother, successful business owner, and a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024, at the age of 88. Imogene was born on November 7, 1935, in Bell County, Kentucky, to her parents, Britt and Linda Howard.
Imogene's entrepreneurial spirit led her on a remarkable journey as the owner of the Tollgate Carryout. With dedication and hard work, she managed and operated the store for almost 30 years. Her friendly demeanor, warm smile, and impeccable customer service skills made the Tollgate Carryout a welcome place for friends and neighbors, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she served.
Imogene is preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Jack Kaufmann, her two daughters, Beverly and Connie Saylor and her siblings Rosetta, Orean, Robert, Murle, Ledger and Ewel. She is survived by her children, Deborah Scott, Glen Britton (Laura) Saylor Jr., Brenda (Kenneth) Durham, Susie (Anthony) Messer, grandchildren, Anthony, Alex, Justin, Jessica, Lacey, Katy, K.J., Becky, Travis and Brady, great-grandchildren, Emery, Nora, Raelyn, Austin, Victoria, Sophia, Madelyn and Jacob and siblings Betty Jean (her twin), Kate, Henry, Avery.
Her memory will continue to be treasured by her adoring family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched with her kindness.
Family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, 1944 State Route 28, Goshen, on Saturday, February 17th from 11 AM until time of services beginning at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Myer Cemetery.
