Inez Jeanette Swigert

Inez Jeanette Swigert (nee Spray), wife of the late Gordon Swigert, devoted mother of Teresa (Ronny) Påhlsson and Susan (Don) Venderbush, loving grandmother of Amanda, Alexander, Audrey, Jill and Donnie, great-grandmother of Milleah, dear sister of Marion, Phyllis and the late Jimmy, passed away on April 19, 2023 at the age of 85.

Jeanette attended Blanchester High School and was a skilled athlete, participating in basketball and softball during her high school career. She was also on a local bowling team for many years. After graduating a year ahead of schedule because she was chosen to skip a grade, she married Gordon, her high school sweetheart. They were married for nearly 62 years when he passed away in 2017. She began her long working career at Haines Department Store in Blanchester and also worked for the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force as a civilian. But, her most beloved work was as a secretary for the Blanchester School System, which she enjoyed for over 30 years.

Jeanette was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a faithful presence at every sporting event that her children participated in, an accomplished seamstress, a talented artist, and an extremely hard-working woman throughout her life. She loved to play cards, work jigsaw and word puzzles, play games and was an avid reader and gardener. Jeanette loved spending beach vacations with family in Myrtle Beach and Florida. She will be greatly missed and remembered well by all.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 10:30 a.m. at:

Horizon Community Church

3950 Newtown Rd.

Cincinnati, OH 45244

A lunch reception will immediately follow the service at a local restaurant for anyone who would like to join the family. Details pending.
