James Jerome Lawson, 82 of Summerfield Florida passed away on Monday, March 12 at Cypress Care Nursing Home Wildwood, Florida where he retired 17 years ago. He was born on September 13, 1935, in Greenfield, Ohio, to Eugene Kelly and Grace (Edster) Lawson. James attended Greenfield McClain School and went on to attend Wilmington College and University of Cincinnati majoring in Mechanical Engineering and was a Licensed Professional Engineer. He served in the US Air Force, active duty for two years and the Air Force Reserves for an additional 15 years. James was a Field Representative for General Electric Aviation and traveled internationally providing product support for jet engines. He is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Ann Byrne and two brothers Fred and Eugene. He is survived by two children, James S. (Mary) Lawson and Kimberly A. (Jeff) Chaffin of Wheelersburg, OH. They have five grandchildren; Stephanie Chaffin, Indianapolis, IN, Kelly (Marcus) Williams, Craig (Nicole) Chaffin, Portland, OR, Jamie Lawson, Spokane, WA, and Jennifer (Richard) Blevins, Alton IL.
Services will take place at Evans Funeral Home, Goshen, Saturday, March 17, 10 AM. The family will receive friends on Friday March 16 from 6-8 PM. Burial with take place at Graceland Memorial Gardens with military honors. Memorials to the Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care 601 Casa Bella, The Villages Florida, 32162.
