James M. Owens, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 16, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on February 17, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, James led a life filled with love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. James is preceded in death by his parents, James R Owens and Helen Owens, sister Sandra Graham, his wife Gayle Owens and his son James M. Owens Jr. He is survived by his son Craig (Mandy) Owens, daughter Staci Ciaccio, grandson Jaxson Owen Ciaccio, and a legacy of cherished memories.

Jim was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery. His dedication to service was matched only by his devotion to his family. A loving husband to the late Gayle Owens, Jim was always there to support his children through their various sports endeavors, whether coaching Craig's teams or cheering passionately at Staci's events. Known as Poppy to his grandson Jaxson, there was never a school event, game or tournament he missed, watching him was one of the joys in his life.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-annual family vacations to Lake Charlevoix in Michigan, evenings spent grilling in the backyard, and watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Browns. Jim reveled in the great outdoors, finding joy in fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family every summer in Charlevoix Michigan where he spent 70 summers there with his family. This cherished tradition will be carried on by his children and grandson.

Known for his strength of character and wisdom, Jim was a go-to person for advice, offering a listening ear and kind words to those who sought his guidance. He worked as a credit manager for Clark Detroit Allison in Sharonville for 40 years. He faced life's challenges with a strong will and an intelligent mind, always reminding his family and friends of the power of perseverance and love.

Jim will be remembered fondly, not just as a remarkable man, but as a loving husband and father, devoted grandfather, and a cherished friend to so many. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, as they carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at Sharon Woods on Thursday Sept 10th 2026 at the Hummingbird Hill Shelter from 5-7 pm.
