James Rauth

December 31, 1938 — November 21, 2025

James William Rauth passed away on November 21, 2025. He was a man of many interests and many talents. He worked for Proctor and Gamble for 30 years until his retirement. Nicknamed the Road Warrior, retirement prompted his desire to continue traveling the world looking for new adventures. He was proud to say that he had seen over forty countries. He had an avid interest in music, specifically ragtime and jazz, and loved going to the Scott Joplin Festival many times over the years. He was intrigued by the image of a mannequin reflected in the Duomo in Milan. This fascination led him to publish a book on Mannequins, which promoted trips world and statewide to collect the pictures he put together. He traveled with friends through the southwest and there discovered he could take a class on jewelry making...off he went. What marked these adventures was the core groundingof his enthusiasm for discovery of new ideas, new places, new people. He was a living spark of life for so many people, taking time to listen before making kind suggestions about new paths and choices. He gave to many his ear, his insights, and his time. We could describe him finally as a Renaissance Man.

Jim's younger years were filled with trips to the beach, sailing with his uncle, graduating from Miami University and singing with the Glee Club. He loved nature and the Cincinnati Nature Center, where it sparked the idea for another book, Catching My Eye. A book filled with wildlife and nature images. Jim had a passion for automobiles and looked forward to warm weather where he could enjoy a long ride in his convertible. He had a love for woodworking and was a project man, never afraid to get his hands dirty. Jim loved to teach his children and grandchildren how life worked and had several phrases he loved to share...

* The most important thing you own is your signature.
* Always ask the question. If the answer is no, fine. But never be afraid to ask.

James W. Rauth had a generous heart and a curious mind, with his last words being, Hi, I'm Jim. Introducing himself to his next adventure.
