With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janet P. Martin, a beloved aunt, friend, and community member, who departed this life peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 97, in her cherished home of Milford, Ohio. Born on May 20, 1927, in Mulberry, Ohio, Janet lived a life rich in relationships and experiences that touched many.
Janet was a proud graduate of Goshen High School, class of 1946, and dedicated many years of her life to her work as an inspector at US Playing Cards, where her meticulous nature shone through. Known for her warmth and kindness, she was affectionately known as "Aunt Janet" by her family and dear friends. Janet never met a stranger; she welcomed everyone with open arms and a genuine smile, often referring to her life as a tapestry woven with wonderful connections.
A vibrant member of the community, Janet cherished her time with the Red Hat Society and the Rosie Reds, and she loved attending her "engagements," where laughter and joy were always the main guests. Her family will fondly remember her love for Little Debbie cakes, which brought sweetness not just to her plate but to the many lives she enriched.
Janet leaves behind her loving nephews Larry (Donna), Garry (Beckie), Daniel (Toni), David (Vickie) Noertker, and Jenny Lynn Pack. She will be deeply missed by her great-nieces and great-nephews: Missy, Phillip (Daphne), Nathan (Dee), Tina (Andy), Danny (Cassandra), and Darla (Ryan). Janet was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Jeannette Noertker, her beloved husband Charles Martin, her brother and sister in law Chester (Louise) and niece Janet Carol Grout.
As we gather to honor Janet's extraordinary life, we invite friends and family to join us in a farewell ceremony that will be a reflection of her spirit. Visitation will take place at Evans Funeral Home in Milford on December 14, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location at 11:30 AM, as we celebrate the life and legacy of this remarkable woman. Janet will then be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Janet's memory to SEM Haven, 225 Cleveland Ave, Milford, Ohio 45150, an organization that embodies the compassion she extended throughout her life.
As we remember Janet, let us celebrate her joyous spirit and the countless memories she gifted to us all. May her legacy of kindness and connection continue to inspire us every day.
