Jeffrey Lynn Barger, Sr. (1963 - 2024)

For 60 years, Jeffrey “Jeff” Lynn Barger, was a gift to his family, friends, and community. He was born March 28, 1963, to Clifton “Butch” Lynn Barger and Helen Rose Trimble Barger in Georgetown, Ohio. On January 15, 2024, Jeff joined his father, Butch and sister, Caro Lee Barger Shupert in the heavenly kingdom.

With his wife, Naomi Christine McKnight, Jeff built a large, loving family. His daughters, Kristy Lynn Little (Derek Little), Stephanie Michelle Barger, Rachael Ielene Meyer (Caleb Meyer), Kimberly Rose Barger, Melissa Cassandra Barger, and Cynthia Lee Brown (Trace Brown), along with his baby boy, Jeffrey Lynn Barger, Jr., carry their dad’s humor, full heart, and family devotion with them.

Jeff was the doting “Pappy” to 10 grandchildren, whom he loved endlessly and would let get away with anything. Charlotte Meyer, Abraham Meyer, Jaylen Little, Jakayla Little, Felicity Meyer, Catherine Meyer, Lorelei Brown, Lilah Meyer, Gemma Meyer, and Eleanor Brown did not get the chance to know him fully but will always have his spirit within them. We cannot wait to tell them so many stories of their Pappy.

Aside from loving his family, enjoying a good campfire, and smoking everything he could find in the kitchen, Jeff was committed to work and providing for his family. He began his professional life in the Navy, honorably discharged from serving as a submarine repairman. He then went on to become a machinist, working in several Ohio companies, most recently for one of his closest friends at Forward Technologies. Everyone who knows Jeff knew he was competitive, and he loved to tell stories of beating everyone else at work with his productivity numbers.

In addition to his mother, wife, children and grandchildren, Jeff is survived by his three brothers, James Barger, John Barger, and Jessie Barger. You can join the family to celebrate his life and mourn his loss on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 with services at 11:00 at Christian Nation Church, 7478 SR-28 Pleasant Plain, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at Laurel Carmel Cemetery.
