Jerry L. Gilkison, 75, of Batavia OH passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020 at Mercy Anderson Hospital. He is survived by his wife Frances (nee Nimmo) Gilkison, son Craig Gilkison, daughter Holly Thompson, son-in-law Steven Thompson and grand children Jacob and Jessica Thompson. Proceeded in death by his brother Charles Gilkison and beloved by his surviving siblings Judy Fender, Danny Gilkison, Donna Knopp and Susan Herrin, many nephews, nieces, cousins, close friends, business associates and members of the First Baptist Church of Milford. Jerry was born August 30, 1945 to parents Allen and Faye Gilkison. He grow up in the rural community of Clermont County, graduating from Clermont Northeastern Highschool in 1963. Following graduation, Jerry pursued his own interested. He married his loving wife, Frances, in 1965 celebrating 54 years of marriage. He also enlisted in the US Marine Corps reserves from 1965-1972. Following in his father's footsteps, Jerry joined the family business , Gilkison Excavating in 1967 forming a partnership with his father Allen and his brother Charles. Upon retirement Jerry continued to work an additional 16 years with Byer Steel Company. Blessed with a kind heart and gentle candor, Jerry was loved and respected by his family and community, very personable and selfless he helped family members in time of need, always taking the time to check on his friends and family concerned with thhealth and well being. He created live long friendships, was good with a laugh and a joy to be around. Jerry loved his country and served the Lord Jesus Christ our savior. Through his dedication to the Lord he donated to church various projects like baseball and soccer fields for the enjoyment of others. Sadly he will be missed by many.
Memorial visitation and Celebration of Life service will take place at Evans Funeral Home, 1944 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, OH on Friday January 8, 2021 from 5:00 PM until time of service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army, 87 N. Market St., Batavia, OH 45103.
