February 28, 1939 — July 11, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of JoAnn Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker, who departed from this world on July 11, 2025, at the age of 86. JoAnn was born on February 28, 1939, in Knox County, KY, to the late Roscoe and Mary (nee Elam) Blanton.

JoAnn will be remembered for her warm heart and unwavering dedication to her family. As a proud homemaker, she poured her love into creating a nurturing environment for her children, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from gardening and canning the bounties of her garden to preparing homestyle meals that brought her family together around the dinner table.

An avid crocheter, JoAnn lovingly crafted baby afghans, carefully stitching each one with the same care she showed in every aspect of her life. Her creative spirit extended to arts and crafts, where she thrived in the beauty of making something special with her hands. JoAnn was detail-oriented and particular, ensuring that everything she did reflected her love and affection.

Outside, JoAnn found peace in nature, often enjoying the company of birds as she spent time in her flower beds and garden. She had a special affinity for flowers and the beauty they brought to her home and life. JoAnn was truly family-oriented; she adored attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, cheering them on with a spirit that embodied her unconditional love and support. Her home was always open, welcoming family and friends with warmth, a home cooked meal, and good conversation.
