Joann S. Younginger

January 7, 1943 — August 9, 2024

Today we come to honor the life of JoAnn Sylvia Younginger, a beloved individual who will forever hold a special place in our memories. We celebrate her transition to her eternal life, and reunion with her late husband, Eddie, her High School sweetheart, whom she married on 10/14/1967. JoAnn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 7, 1943, to the late Luther and Stella Mae Penn. JoAnn's journey on this Earth was one marked by love, courage, perseverance and wisdom.

Having pursued her education to its fullest extent, JoAnn was a graduate of Miami University, and continued her education to obtain her master's degree in Early Childhood Education, a feat that would shape her future endeavors. Her passion for teaching led her to inspire young minds at CNE during the 70's and later, St. Bernadette School, leaving an indelible mark on all those she encountered. She tutored a local family from Greece and taught their children to read and write in the English language. She taught a Vietnam Veteran how to read, which enriched his future. She taught her daughter how to read at the age of 3-4 years old, which led to her love of reading to her own children, helping to develop their interest in learning and books at an early age.

JoAnn loved to travel to exotic places. She loved to work in her gardens. She cherished her pets and animals in general. JoAnn was an amazing cook and shared many recipes over the years with her daughter and also her passion for flowers and gardening, as well as her creative eye for design and art! JoAnn loved giving special gifts to those she loved, as surprises. JoAnn was preceeded in death by her husband, Edgar Jacob Younginger Jr., and her late son, Edgar Jacob Younginger III, as well as her beloved parents, Lou and Stella Mae Penn.

JoAnn's legacy lives on through her daughter, Jennifer Younginger, and her cherished grandsons Jacob and Jared, whose lives were touched by her wisdom and compassion. Alongside her family, JoAnn found solace and companionship in her kitties; Bonnie, Buffy, Ashley, Tommy Lee, Buttercup, Lola and her dear fur buddy Charlie, a faithful friend who brought joy to her later days. She cherished her years with Ginger, her Cocker Spaniel, BJ, Buster, Tootsie and Sugar; her dogs.

In remembrance and celebration of JoAnn's life, a gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, OH, providing an opportunity to share cherished memories and find solace in each other's company. Funeral services and ceremonies will begin at 2:00pm. Pastor Bill Tice of Milford First United Methodist Church will lead the service, offering words of comfort and reflection to all who gather to pay their respects.

Following the service, JoAnn will be laid to rest in the serene embrace of Greenlawn Cemetery in Milford, where she will rest peacefully beside her beloved husband, Eddie, amongst the beauty of nature she so admired during her lifetime.
