Owensville - John T. Clark , age 86, passed away peacefully at Pinebrook Retirement Community on July 20, 2018 after battling glioblastoma. Loving husband for over 60 years to Gloria K. (Dailey) Clark; cherished father of Christiane (John) Schultz, John (Brenda) Clark III and Robert (Pamela) Clark. Proud grandfather to Jeffery and Jennifer, Becky and Jacob, and Emily and Elyse. Great grandfather to Caleb, Caylee, Ethan, Landon, Cameron and Marley. Preceded in death by his father John Sr., mother Vera and brother William Clark. An Ohio State University undergrad, he served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force throughout the 1950s. Following his stint in the military, he earned his Master of Arts degree in English at the University of Chicago and returned to Cincinnati to pursue a lifelong career in education. A five-year period teaching high school was followed by his role as English Supervisor for the Cincinnati Public School system for 18 years. He then served as associate director in charge of designing and implementing magnet schools (specifically Paideia schools) for Cincinnati, trained tutors for the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati and finished his career training teachers at the graduate level through Xavier University, completing his last session in the summer of 2017. His final gesture to educate others came in the form of body donation to the University of Cincinnati. A celebration of life is planed 2-5 PM, Sunday, July 29th, on the 3rd Floor of the Pinebrook Retirment Center, 5877 Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Rd. Milford, 45150. Contributions may be made to either the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra or the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
