Obituary - John L. Donahue, Jr.
John Lawrence Donahue Jr., passed away on March 16, 2025, in Montgomery, Ohio, at the age of 85. Known to many as "Jack" or "Murph," he was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather who brought joy to everyone he met.
Born on November 9, 1939, in Park Ridge, Illinois, he was the son of John Lawrence Donahue, Sr. and Margaret Bollinger Donahue. John pursued a distinguished education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY in 1961. His career led him to the corrugated box industry, where he made significant contributions as an engineer and eventually as an entrepreneur. In 1982, he and his wife Maureen founded Donahue & Associates International, Inc. in Milford, Ohio. Through this venture, he invented and patented the "Donahue Steam System" leaving a lasting impact on his field.
Beyond his professional achievements, he had a deep passion for boating, an interest that brought him great joy throughout his life. John was a pillar in his community, serving as Commodore of the Royal Palm Yacht Club in Cape Coral, Florida where he resided for over 20 years. Additionally, he was an active parishioner in St. Andrew Churches in Milford, OH, and Cape Coral, FL, as well as the Community of the Good Shepherd in Cincinnati. He was deeply involved in his faith and cherished the relationships he built along the way.
John is survived by Maureen Forbes Donahue, his beloved wife of 60 years; his children John L. (Stephanie) Donahue III; Thomas J. (Karen) Donahue; Michael P. (Nancy) Donahue; and Margaret A. (T.R.) O'Brien. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren: Katie (Paul) Rockocy, Bridget (fiancé Logan Kocianic) Donahue; Erin Donahue, Jane (Brian) Stanley, Annie Donahue; Colleen and Garrett Donahue; Molly, Jack, and Brady O'Brien and one great-grandchild: Brooks Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Elizabeth A. Donahue and James A. Donahue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 29, 2025, at The Community of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, located at 8815 E. Kemper Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45249 at 10:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 8:45 AM. All who knew him are welcome to pay their respects and share stories of a remarkable man who lived life to the fullest.
