J. "Ray" Hawley, beloved resident of Owensville, OH, passed away peacefully at The Glen Healthcare Center on October 4, 2024, at the age of 93. Known for his witty personality and kind heart, Ray was a pillar in his community, dedicating 25 years of service as a volunteer firefighter and being one of the original founders of the Stonelick Township Life Squad.
A man of many passions, Ray was a dedicated family man who sponsored and coached his daughter's softball teams, creating lasting memories on the field. His love for a good game extended beyond sports, as he and Mary Jo also were avid card players who brought laughter and joy to those around them with their funny personalities.
He is proceeded in death by his parents John Hawley and Lula M. Daughtery, his wife Mary Jo Hawley (nee Fetter), and grandson Bradley A. Hawley. He is survived by his son Ray A. (Linda) Hawley, daughter Diane Hawley and granddaughter Stacie Hawley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial for both Ray and Mary Jo will be held at St. Louis Church on Friday, Oct. 18th beginning at 11 AM. The family will receive friends in the St. Louis Fellowship Hall for a luncheon following the Mass.
In looking back on Ray's life, it is clear that he touched the lives of many with his humor and generous spirit. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, forever cherishing the memories made with this remarkable man.
