John Edward Joseph

John Edward Joseph (age 78) passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2 at his home in Goshen, Ohio. Born on September 30, 1943, he was the beloved husband of Mary Jo (Wilson) Joseph also of Goshen. John was preceded in death by his father, J. William “Doc” Joseph M.D., his mother Mary Catherine (Argus) and his father’s second wife, Evelyn (Winterberg). Besides his wife he is survived by six siblings: Judy Stepanic (George deceased) Monroeville, Ohio; James Joseph (Pina) of Lima, Peru; Mary Chatman (Harold) Arvada, Colorado; Lynn Drehkoff (Dennis) Glenview, Illinois; Rita Cameron (Joe) New Richmond, Ohio; Jan Herzberger (Bud) Bay Village, Ohio. John is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and God children, all whom loved him deeply and found him always entertaining. Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer and Tracy. Retired, John was previously employed by Foy Johnson Paints of Cincinnati. John served his country in Korea in the late 60’s and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Saint X High School in 1961 and attended college at the University of Cincinnati and the Ohio State University. John had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his brothers-in-law to annual fishing trips in Minnesota. John and his wife Mary Jo traveled extensively during their retirement years to places like Peru, Aruba, Ireland, Alaska and throughout the United States. John loved pursuing outdoor activities such as fishing, gardening, birding and enjoying his lake alone or with friends. John will be remembered fondly by family and friends for his Daisy Dukes, banana trees, eating bugs and worms, golf cart, Stonelick Sam, growing up on Grand Vista, cowboy campout, Thanksgiving turkey, Billy Bob teeth, storytelling, excellent Halloween costumes, Arrow Avenue backyard parties and so many other wonderful memories. The arrangements are under the care of Evans Funeral Home in Goshen, Ohio. A memorial mass in John’s memory as well as a celebratory send-off will be held at a later date per the family’s request.
