Joseph Darby Mallin IV, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025. A proud United States Marine, Joseph lived a life marked by honor, devotion, and love — for his country, his family, and his late wife of 62 years, Nancy C. Mallin (née Weinel), with whom he is now joyfully reunited.

Born on July 18, 1939, Joseph was a steady and loyal presence in the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved son, Joseph “Scott” Mallin, and daughter-in-law, Mardi Mallin; his granddaughter, Lainey Wurtz, and her husband, Reid Wurtz; and his three great-grandsons: Eli, Joe, and Baby Boy Wurtz #3.

He is also survived by his loving siblings: Sara Tracy, Tom Mallin, Kay Weber, and Mea Bishop. Joseph’s strong family bonds and quiet, steadfast nature were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

His memory will live on through the generations he guided and loved, in the stories retold and the values upheld by his family.
