Joyce Phelps

Joyce G. Phelps, age 79, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was sent to her eternal home on January 30, 2025 at Mercy Health Anderson Hospital, due to an illness. She was born on November 25, 1945, in Maysville, Kentucky. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Delores O’Brien.

Joyce was a 1964, graduate of Amelia High School, while also attending Vocational School of Cosmetology. Joyce had a brief career as a hair dresser and was a homemaker.

She lived a life full of love, kindness, and was enthusiastic about her family and friends. Joyce was the devoted wife of Tim P. Phelps, with whom she shared many beautiful years of marriage. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength for Tim and all who knew her.

Joyce was a loving and proud mother to three children, late Raymond H. Motz, Jr, of Bethel, Ohio, Lisa M. Motz of Washington Court House, and Regina M. (Tim) Motz-Schulcz of Cincinnati. She cherished her granddaughter Brittney (Nick) Niehaus and her great grandchildren Blake and Wesley Niehaus. Her children and grandchildren brought immense joy and pride into her life.

She was highly creative and talented; she had a knack for generating unique and captivating ideas to decorate her home. She loved shopping and was skilled at deconstruction of items and recreating beautiful one-of-a-kind items. She also, had a green thumb and could grow beautiful flower gardens and house plants. She also loved her dogs.

Joyce, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. We ask that you remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered and the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be treasured by all who knew her.

The service to honor the life of Joyce Gail Phelps will be held on February 27, 2025, at 6:00 PM at John H. Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center, Milford, Ohio, 45150.
