Joyce Ann Rackley, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on August 5, 1938, Joyce lived a life rich in love, laughter, and connection.
Joyce enjoyed a meaningful career as a teacher in her younger years, where her passion for education and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many. Later, she found fulfillment working at Kroger, where she forged deep connections within the community. She brought warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered, valuing the relationships she built along the way.
Joyce had a zest for life that was reflected in her many hobbies. She found joy in long drives, exploring the beauty of nature, and going on walks with her dogs that invigorated her spirit. Her love for gardening was a testament to her nurturing touch. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling, relishing in the laughter shared with friends.
An avid shopper, Joyce cherished moments spent in stores and markets, discovering treasures while enjoying the thrill of the hunt. She had a special fondness for dining at Frisch's Mainliner in Fairfax, where delicious meals were often accompanied by cherished memories with family and friends.
Joyce's family was her heart. She is the devoted mother of Terri Phillips, Mary Jo Westerkamp, Michael (Nancy) Rackley and Chris (Krista) Rackley, the loving grandmother of Justin (Mary Beth) Phillips, Stephen (Bessie King) Westerkamp, Stephanie (Steve) Lausten, Nikki (Bob) Borchers, Andrew (Emily) Rackley, Benjamin Rackley, Jake (Ariel) Rackley and Kaitlyn Rackley, and great-grandmother of Jordan, Athena, Kayla, Nathan, Brandon, Brianna, Callie, Camilla, Landon, Adrianna, Elyssa, Ethan, Mason, Hudson, Jaxson, as well as Little Man and Baby Girl.
The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home in Milford on Monday, January 27th from 10 AM until the funeral service beginning at 11 AM. Joyce will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery.
As we gather to honor her memory, we invite those who knew and loved Joyce to join in a heartfelt farewell as we reflect on her legacy of love, kindness, and joy. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
