Joyce C. Snell

Joyce Carolyn Snell, a beloved teacher and devoted member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on March 6, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Robert Rinckhoff and Gertrude Dumford. Joyce spent her entire life in Milford, where she created countless cherished memories and profound connections.

Joyce dedicated her career to educating young minds as a teacher at Milford Exempted Village Schools. She was known for her intelligence, exceptional organizational skills, and leadership qualities, which inspired both her students and colleagues alike. After many fulfilling years of service, she retired but continued to shape her community through her unwavering commitment to education.

As a faithful and devoted Christian, Joyce was an active member of Milford First United Methodist Church. Her love for the church extended beyond attendance; she served in the church's historical society and was the president of the Greater Milford Area Historical Society, where she nurtured a love of history and heritage in those around her. Joyce's dedication to her faith and her community was evident in all that she did.

Joyce was not only a remarkable educator; she was also a vibrant member of the Red Hat Society, sharing laughter and joy with friends. She cherished family time, enjoying traveling and camping adventures with her loved ones. Family was always the center of her life, and she took great pride in nurturing close relationships with her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was the beloved wife of over 50 years to the late Duane Snell; Loving mother of Joan (Mark) Mell, David (Melanie) Snell, Doug (Jean) Snell, and Lisa Snell; Cherished grandmother of Kevin Mell, Kristopher Mell, Kurt Mell, Amanda Johnson, Douglas Snell, Ashleigh Lefeld, Erika Snell, and Cara Snell; Great grandmother of 10.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Milford First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Joyce will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Greenlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Milford First United Methodist Church, a place that held deep significance in Joyce's heart. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared with her family and community.
