Joyce L. Spears

Joyce L. Spears, age 75 of Goshen, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born March 5, 1944, in Rockholds, Kentucky the daughter of Ezra and Amie (nee Carter) Barber. Joyce's first husband, Everett Spears, preceded her in death February 11, 2000. She retired in 2002, with over 20 years of service with the Owens Illinois Manufacturing Plant. After her retirement, Joyce moved to Virginia and finally settled in Virginia Beach, Virginia; where she met and married, Lee Malone. They enjoyed the beach life and both loved dancing. They attended many dances together. Lee preceded her in death April 14, 2017 and Joyce moved back to the area to closer to her family. She is survived by her son and his wife; Tim & Teresa Alsip, grandchildren; Misty & Waylon Roberts T.J. and Lauren Alsip, Lisa (Ben Hafele) Alsip, Kristen & Ryan Soderberg, Brittany Kinner, Brittany & Elliott Holtman, great grandchildren, Bailey, Logan "Doodlebug," Jack, Kennedy, Travis, Layla, Trey and Blake, her sister Elsie Gibbs, and brothers; Oscar & Jeff Barber. A Celebration Of Life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 11:00AM until 2:00PM at the Edenton First Baptist Church, 6655 Edenton Pleasant Plain Rd., Pleasant Plain, Ohio 45162. Brother Don Piercy and Brother Aaron Ellerman will co-officiate. Inurnment will be in Plainview Cemetery in Wayne Township.
