Joyce Irene Willis

Joyce Irene Willis (nee Thomas) 85, beloved wife of David Willis, passed June 4, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Williamson Thomas & Edith Wood Thomas and her sister Barbara Hale. Joyce precedes in death, her husband of 52 years David, two step-children, Clinton and Jamie, and a nephew Charles. Joyce met David in the Bahamas, when the sailing cruise she was on was kept in the harbor because of engine trouble and the threat of a hurricane. Joyce was an audiologist by trade, matriculating at the University of Akron, and the University of Pittsburgh where she received dual masters degrees in clinical audiology and speech therapy. Joyce began her career at the Cincinnati Hearing Center, transitioning to work for Dr. Fleming, and staying on at his practice until she retired. Joyce loved animals, particularly cats but dogs were welcome also. Joyce will be interned at the Hillside Memorial Park 1025 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312, June 17, 2022. There will be a celebration of life at the Mariemont Inn 6880 Wooster Pike Mariemont, OH, June 23, 2022 from 3 to 5pm. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Hospital in honor of the Joyce Willis Memorial Fund.
