Karen Eileen Dragon, age 73, of Milford, Ohio, passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 25, 2025. Born on September 13, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family.
Karen's warm spirit and infectious enthusiasm made her a beloved figure in her community. She graduated from Indian Hill High School in 1970 and spent her professional life serving 40 years as a secretary for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), where she made lasting connections with both colleagues and the public. However, her true legacy resides in the hearts of her family and friends.
Karen was the cherished wife of David Dragon and they were married for 54 years and a proud mother to her three daughters: Kerry (Darryl) Walker, Kris (Dave) Wasmund, and Kim (Craig) Taulbee. She leaves behind a lovingly assembled tribe of grandchildren - Brandon, Austin (Savannah), Bryson, Caitlyn, Alex, Avery, Audrina and Caiden - who will forever remember her tender words, "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." She was also survived by three brothers, one sister, many nieces and nephews and close friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Theodore Geers and Elizabeth Barbour, and one brother.
Family gatherings were the cornerstone of Karen's life. For over thirty years, she held an annual Christmas cookie-making event that brought joy and delicious memories to all. A true adventurer at heart, Karen loved a good ride on her Harley Davidson, often exploring the countryside and discovering local gems along the way. She reveled in the small things as well - gardening and nurturing her flower beds brought her immense joy, just as did her time spent as a Girl Scout leader, where she inspired young girls to pursue their dreams.
Avid book lover and storyteller, Karen's favorite tales were often shared during family dinners, where laughter echoed around the table. She found joy in every moment spent with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and school functions, always cheering them on with unmatched enthusiasm.
Her absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved her most. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karen's life on Friday, October 31 from 2:30PM until time of services at 4:00PM in the Evans Funeral Home, Milford.
As we gather to honor Karen's life, we will share stories, laughter, and tears, reflecting on the countless memories she gifted us. In the spirit of her love and legacy, we will find comfort in one another - a community bound together by the warmth and kindness that she modeled every day.
Rest in peace, dear Karen, Mom, Gramma. Your love will forever echo in our hearts.
