Karl Joseph Sauter, a longtime resident of the Cincinnati community, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in Middletown, Ohio, on August 16, 1944, Karl was a dedicated son, father, grandfather and friend.
Karl grew up in the Clifton area of Cincinnati and attended Roger Bacon High School. In September, 1964 he married Anna B. Wagers, his wife for 56 years who passed away in November, 2020. Together they had 3 children - Pamela, who family calls Jeanny, Audra and Joey.
Karl loved to share stories with his family and friends about his childhood, experiences in Vietnam and ordinary, everyday events. He is known for his passion for golf and his love for crossword puzzles, nurturing a sharp mind and an adventurous spirit throughout his life. A proud supporter of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, his enthusiasm for sports extended to his alma mater, University of Cincinnati, where he graduated and found immense joy in following the Bearcat football and basketball teams.
Having dedicated a significant portion of his life to Procter & Gamble, Karl commenced his career with the company at a young age, eventually becoming a Marketing Analyst and immersing himself in the world of consumer goods. His commitment and loyalty were unwavering, shaping a lifelong career that brought him fulfillment and satisfaction.
In service to his country, Karl enlisted in the Navy on January 2, 1964, and was honorably discharged on July 12, 1968, having reached the rank of FTG2 and serving in the Vietnam War. His military experience further enriched his life, instilling in him values of discipline and courage that would define his character.
A compassionate and dedicated individual, Karl impacted the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of his company.
Karl is survived by his children Pamela (Jeff) Gross, Audra Sauter, and Joseph (Sharon) Sauter, his grandchildren Nyla, Bridget and Shannon and a sister, Ernestine. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernst and Anna Sauter and his wife of 56 years Anna B. Sauter.
Family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, Milford, on Tuesday, April 30th from 6 PM until time of memorial services beginning at 7 PM. Burial, with full military honors, will be May 1st at the Dayton National Cemetery.
May Karl Joseph Sauter rest in peace, surrounded by the love and fond memories he leaves behind. His legacy will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who carry his memory in their hearts.
