Leo Joseph McGough, born April 11, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away on April 17, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Proceeded in death by his parents, Francis Joseph McGough and Marie Inez McGough, nee Rhodes. Leo is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roberta E. McGough, nee Rudkin, and their daughters, Letitia "Tish" Carwell; husband James Carwell, grandchildren Army Sargent Thomas Carwell, Christian Carwell, Shannon Carwell, and Brianne Carwell, and daughter Regina "Jeanie" McGough. His brothers, Henry McGough, Francis McGough, and Gerard McGough and his sisters Barbara Clark McElhaney and Francine Felton survive Leo. His sister Inez Brown precedes him in death. Leo is also survived by his children Gary McGough, Leo Joseph McGough, Jr., James McGough, and Donna Shore, nee McGough.
Leo was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cape May, New Jersey. An Army Airborne veteran he served in Japan and Korea and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. A certified welder, he owned Leo's Welding and Erin Welding in Northern Virginia. Leo retired in the late 1990's and resided in Colonial Beach, Virginia. Leo was a Mason and was raised to the level of District Deputy Grandmaster, 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Masonic Lodges of Colonial Beach and Montross, Virginia and formerly of Woodbridge, Virginia. Leo was also a former member of the Elks, Moose, and Eagles Lodges.
Leo was a hunter, fisherman, and as a young man enjoyed roller-skating. He was a skilled tradesman who could build and fix most anything, although if he couldn't fix it he believed a bigger hammer would get the job done. He enjoyed telling his tales and many of which highlighted his adventures in life. Burial services will be a private ceremony in Clermont County, Ohio.
