Pete Wietholter

January 17, 1940 — June 23, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Louis H. Wietholter, better known as Pete, who transitioned peacefully from this world on June 23, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 17, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Paul A. and Mary E. (nee Hill) Wietholter. Pete lived a life rich in love, laughter, and generosity. A proud Army veteran, Pete served his country from August 20, 1958, until his honorable discharge on August 17, 1961, achieving the rank of Specialist 4.


Pete dedicated over 60 years to the grocery industry as a skilled meat cutter, sharing his expertise and passion for his craft at IGA and later at Sam's Club. His work ethic and commitment to quality left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.


A man of many interests, Pete cherished the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting and fishing. He took immense pride in his yard. Pete was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and enjoyed watching NASCAR, often sharing spirited conversations about his favorite teams with friends and family.


Above all, Pete cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him boundless joy. His love for dogs was evident, as he welcomed them into his home with open arms and a warm heart. Known for his great sense of humor, Pete had a remarkable ability to bring lightness to any situation, often teasing his loved ones in the most affectionate ways. Pete's life was a testament to kindness and generosity; he was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.


Pete was the beloved husband of 61 years to Janet L. (nee Olson) Wietholter; Loving father of Pam (Mark) Janson, Tony (Julie) Wietholter, and the late Diana L. Cook; Cherished grandpa of Michael (Brandi), Nikki (Josh), Amanda (Jack), Samantha (Benji), Kylie, Alex (Martha Jane), Kyle (Ashley), and Zach (Abby); Great-grandfather of 12; Dear brother of Birdie.


Along with his parents and daughter, Pete is preceded in death by his siblings Hoppy, Manny, Mary, and Erma.


A visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home in Milford. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
