Lynne Sturgis Ferguson, 87, of Cincinnati, Ohio, a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 10th, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Florence Sturgis, two brothers, Joe and Jack Sturgis, her infant daughter Jeanne, and her son Paul Ferguson. Lynne is survived by four daughters, Mary Ragland (Tim), Kathy Ferguson, Julie Doak (Andy), and Lisa Curtis (Craig); six grandchildren, Caitlin Barkley (Conor), Kerry Hay (Alex), Max and Sarah Doak, and Henry and Maddie Curtis; and three great grandchildren; Wes and Nolan Barkley and Georgena Hay; four sisters, Marianne Murphy, Susan Roos (David), Martha Lindner (Carl), and Margaret Denker, along with many nieces and nephews.
Lynne was born and raised in Cincinnati and attended Edgecliff College for two years. She completed her nursing degree at Purdue University and Concordia Lutheran College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana after getting married and raising five children. She worked for 14 years as a Psychiatric Nurse at Parkview Hospital South Unit. After her divorce and the birth of her first grandchild she moved back to Cincinnati and worked for the Christ Hospital and United Home Care. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering with the Marielders in her Mariemont neighborhood.
Lynne was proud of her family and relished being in their company. She instilled in her children and grandchildren an appreciation for culture, reading and the arts, celebrating their achievements, and keeping a sense of humor through life's ups and downs. She was loving and encouraging and was always interested in sharing stories about their lives.Lynne was interesting and funny and always kept others entertained through her deep knowledge of history and pop culture. She never lost a game of Trivial Pursuit and her favorite past time was answering questions (always correctly) about movie trivia. Up to and including her final day she enjoyed Turner Classic Movies and relaying interesting details about the movie stars and their backgrounds.
We wish to thank the staff at Sem Terrace and Florentine Gardens who provided loving and compassionate care in her final years. A private family celebration of life will be held.
