It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret "Peggie" D. True, who left us on March 3, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 10, 1939, in Cambridge, Ohio, Peggie lived a life rich in music and love, touching countless hearts and inspiring many along the way.
Peggie dedicated over 30 years to teaching music at Seipelt Elementary School, where her passion for music became a lifelong gift to her students and community. She taught countless children how to play the recorder, which resulted in lessons in patience for parents along the way. A trailblazer in music education, she started the beloved After-School Orff Program, igniting a spark for creativity in young musicians. Beyond her teaching role, Peggie's talents extended to the national stage, where she served as local chair of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association National Conference in Cincinnati in 2001, showcasing her commitment to music education.
An enthusiastic educator, with an undergraduate degree from Muskingum University and a graduate degree from Wright State University, Peggie also shared her knowledge first as a music teacher at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park and then at UC Clermont, further impacting the lives of many students. In her retirement, she taught piano lessons. Her love for music was matched only by her devotion to her family, who were her greatest joy. Peggie leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, J. Robert "Bob" True, daughters Wendy (David) Noe and Holly (Todd) Shaver, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Laurel, Andrew, Alex, and Nick. Her spirit will also be carried on by her brothers, Joseph (Janice), John, and Thomas (Thea) Duncan; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Larry) Sandy; and Bob and Rebecca's cousin John Dean.
Peggie was not just an educator; she was an integral part of her community, serving on the Clermont County Library Board and using her voice to advocate for resources that enriched the lives of children and families around her. Known for her high standards and quick wit, she will be remembered by all who knew her.
