Martha Elizabeth Lowe

Affectionately known as Mattie to all her relatives and friends, Martha was born in Milford, Ohio to the parents of Louis Gordon and Francis (Ventus) Gordon. She was one of eight children born from this union. Harry Gordon, William Gordon, Louis Gordon and Daniel Gordon have preceded her in death. She has three remaining siblings: Donald Gordon (Lena Mae), Ollie Stewart (James), and Margaret Butler (Donald). Martha was a graduate of Milford High School.

She was united in marriage on April 3, 1954 to Leonard Lowe. From that union, they had eleven children: Leonard A. Lowe (Elizabeth), Janice Jones, Randy Lowe (Rita), Brian Lowe (Kitt), Kenny Lowe (Shelly), Wesley Lowe (Esther), Kevin Lowe (Sophie), Mary Lowe, Margaret Roland (Terence), Gary Lowe (Carrie) and Carmen Pullens (Damon). She leaves behind forty-six grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and six great - great grandchildren to cherish her memory. Her loved ones that have preceded her in death includes her husband Leonard, her son, Leonard (Tony/Buck) and a grandson, Anthony Darnell. She also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends.

A graduate of Milford High School, Martha was also blessed with a multitude of talents and gifts, including sewing, cooking and crafts. She had the ability to look at nothing and turn it into something unique and precious. Our mother was a giving and caring person: although she had eleven kids to raise up in the fear and admonition of the Lord, she was also a pillar in the community. She worked tirelessly with her best friend, Mary Miller, to distribute donations of food and clothing to help poor, needy, underprivileged individuals and their families. In fact, she was recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives for her giving and was inducted in Milford's Hall of Fame.

Our mother was the queen and matriarch to all of her children and grandchildren. She always led by example with unquestionable strength and demeanor, and she was always ready to give good sound advice. Even when she was confined to the bed, she never complained but always smiled and laughed. Her greatest joy was seeing her entire family get together, especially all the little grandchildren playing, laughing and having fun.

Our mother was a blessed woman of God and a blessing to all her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed, but loved by all.

Martha passed away Wednesday July 17, 2019, at the age of 91 years. She was a resident of Milford, Ohio. Visitation will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church 5797 Happy Hollow Road Milford, Ohio 45150, Friday July 26, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Burial to immediately follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church Building Fund.
