Martin Carlier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on June 4, 1945, and lived a life defined by love, service, family, and countless cherished memories. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Lela (Tarr) and Earl Carlier.
Martin spent his entire profession as an electrical engineer with CG&E (Duke Energy). He served his country with the Army during the Vietnam War, earning a bronze star.
For 49 years, Martin shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Marilyn (Nichting). Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever. He was a dedicated father to Nikki (Andy) Price, Kristen (Jimmy) King, and Kevin (Whitney) Carlier.
His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Wyatt, Colton, Kinsley, and Hunter. Martin never missed a sporting event, always showing up in the stands to cheer on his grandchildren. His presence at their games was a testament to how deeply he loved and supported his family.
Martin had many interests including collecting model trains, creating stained glass pieces, cruising with his wife, and he never met a card game that he didn't like. He also had a special gift for capturing life through the lens of his camera, preserving moments and memories that his family will now hold even more dearly.
Martin's greatest legacy will not be found in the things he collected or the photographs he took, but in the love he gave so freely to his family. He showed up, he captured the moments, he cheered from the sidelines, and he made memories that will live on for generations.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
As we gather to celebrate Martin's life, we invite friends and family to join us for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew Catholic Church on August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Prior to the Mass, there will be a visitation held at Evans Funeral Home in Milford beginning at 8:30 a.m., allowing everyone the opportunity to share stories and memories of this remarkable man.
