Mary Elizabeth Cullop

April 15, 1928 — September 5, 2022

Mary Grubb Cullop was born April 15, 1920 in Smyth County, Virginia and was the youngest of two daughters born to Hershel and Emma Mays Grubb. She spent her childhood years in the Rye Valley community. She graduated Sugar Grove High School and went on to Radford College. She continued her career as a medical secretary at the University of Virginia Medical School and after coming to Greenville to live in 1968, worked as a secretary to the Medical Director at the Walter B. Jones Alcoholic Rehabilitation Center. She was the devoted mother of three children, Lynda Lawrence, Rebecca Staley and Charles Cullop Jr., Grandmother to four grandsons; Andy and Peter Lawrence, Tom and Stephen Cullop and grandmother of Sarah Crosno of Houston, TX. Great-grandmother to Miriam, Dan, Drew and Sam Lawrence. She is also survived by her close friend April Plummer and her faithful black cat, Sam. She loved working jigsaw puzzles and watching old cowboy movies. She was an avid reader and belonged to the Round Table Book Club for many years. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
