Mel D. Taylor

January 18, 1949 — February 15, 2025

Melvin D. Taylor, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on January 18, 1949, Mel lived a life that epitomized passion, humor, and an unwavering devotion to family.

A true motorcycle enthusiast, Mel found his happiness on two wheels, often riding along with his brothers and sisters in the Brotherhood motorcycle club. He cherished the thrill of the open road, where the wind in his hair and the rumble of his bike beneath him brought him great joy. His love for motorcycles mirrored his appreciation for classic cars, as he spent countless hours tinkering as a mechanic, restoring vintage automobiles and motorcycles, showcasing his mechanical ingenuity and deep appreciation for craftsmanship. He retired as a Quality control inspector for BAE.  Mel was a man of conviction, holding the Second Amendment close to his heart, and he instilled the values of freedom and independence in his children. He had a knack for delivering sarcasm with a smile, a characteristic that endeared him to friends and family alike. His humor often lightened the mood, creating laughter and cherished memories even in the toughest of times.  Above all, Mel was a family man. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Taylor; children Bill Taylor, Lyndsey (Dave) Thomas, and David Taylor; brother Gary Taylor; sister Denise Bizjack; step-children Michael Fisher and Catherine (Chris) Franklin and his treasured grandchildren Gunner, Asher, Charlie, and Lex. His family flourished under his nurturing spirit, and he will be remembered for the special moments shared and the love he so deeply provided.  As we reflect on Mel’s life, we remember a man who lived fully, laughed heartily, and loved deeply. His presence will be profoundly missed but ever cherished in our hearts.  A memorial gathering will take place from 3:30-5:00PM on February 26, 2025 in the Evans Funeral Home, Milford to celebrate his life and share their fond memories at this gathering, where Mel’s spirit and legacy will be lovingly remembered.  Mel was preceded in death by: brother-in-law Frank Bizjack, and parents Donald & Leora Taylor
