It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Melba Rae Hughes, a cherished mother, devoted friend, and passionate volunteer, who departed this life peacefully on May 19, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 4, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late William and Lola (nee Stephens) Scully. Melba touched the lives of many with her vibrant spirit and unwavering love.

A woman of many passions, Melba found joy in cooking and sharing delicious meals with her loved ones. She dedicated countless hours to crocheting and crafting alongside her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that they will forever cherish. Her beautiful garden was a sanctuary of color and life, reflecting her nurturing nature. Always brimming with creativity, Melba delighted in decorating her home for every holiday and season, introducing a new theme each year that brought joy to all who visited.

As a volunteer at Mercy Hospitals and the Promont House, Melba selflessly shared her time and kindness, leaving an imprint on the hearts of those she served. Described as loving, caring, fiercely loyal, and wonderfully adventurous, she was a woman with big opinions and an even bigger heart, whose bubbly personality could light up any room.
