We lost one of the greatest men in our lives on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Merrill Boehme, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, lived an amazing 102 (almost 103) years, with love, laughter, wisdom, cribbage, kringle, Snoopy, chocolate chip cookies, brandy old fashioneds (sweet), and memories we'll cherish forever. He was full of stories, humor and a playful spirit that never faded. We are blessed to have had him for so long and heartbroken to say goodbye. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Merrill was born in Racine, WI, on August 18, 1923, to Alvin and Florence (Peterman) Boehme. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Germany. He came home and married the girl next door, Germaine Karsnick, on May 1, 1948. Merrill worked for the telephone company in Wisconsin for 37 years and volunteered with the Pioneers of AT&T service organization after his retirement in 1986. Merrill loved spending time with his family. He also loved traveling, visiting China, Germany, France, England and various places in the U.S. with his daughters. In 2015, he moved from Wisconsin to Ohio to be near his youngest daughter Julie and son-in-law Dale.

Merrill was a faithful Catholic Christian, even serving as an altar server into his 90s. He lived his faith in a quiet, yet profound way, and was a wonderful role model for his family.

He is survived by his children Mary Jo (Jeff) Krueger, Karen (Robert) Mackey, Julie (Dale) Alexander; grandchildren Bryn (Ryan) Lillie and Janna (Alex) Harding; great-grandchildren Kaylee and Liam; sister-in-law Patricia Boehme and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Germaine; parents Alvin and Florence Boehme; sister Clarice Mauer and brother Tom Boehme; brothers-in-law Ken Karsnick and Hans Mauer, and sister-in-law Marie Karsnick.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Evans Funeral Home- Milford, OH. A memorial mass will immediately follow at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Milford. Merrill will be buried next to his wife at the Veteran's Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Merrill's memory to the Comboni Missionaries or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Andrew Conference (Attn: St. Vincent de Paul -552 Main St, Milford, OH 45150) would be appreciated.
