Mildred Cook, age 88, of Cincinnati, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2026. Born on May 5, 1937, in Owsley County Kentucky, Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Zeekie Clem; her children, Doug Taylor (Cheryl) and Tammy Parks (Rob); and her cherished grandchildren, Rachel, Tiffany, Stephanie, and Lee Taylor, and Nicholas, and Jacob Parks. Mildred was the proud matriarch of a large family, leaving behind 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Mildred is also remembered fondly by her siblings, Charles, Margret, Ruby, and Gerald. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edwards and Oma Chandler; her brothers, Hubert, Delmis, and Ivan; and her late husband, Glen Cook.
Mildred's life was a beautiful reflection of her deep love for her family and her steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. From an early age, she found joy in singing, beginning in church alongside her father. As a young woman, she pursued her passion for music and became known as "Our Gal Millie," performing country music on the Mid‑Western Hayride and sharing the stage with legendary artists such as Johnny Cash, Porter Wagoner, and the Wilburn Brothers.
After accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior, Mildred devoted her musical gifts to sharing her faith. Her testimony was evident to all who met her-she never hesitated to express her love for Christ or offer words of encouragement grounded in her belief.
Mildred was also known for her thoughtful and caring spirit. She had a special talent for making others feel cherished, often sending heartfelt cards filled with personal notes for every occasion. A devoted family woman, she thrived in the kitchen, creating meals that brought her loved ones together and cultivating memories filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
A visitation will be held in her honor at Evans Funeral Home, Milford (741 Center Street), on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. With a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Mildred will be laid to rest at Myers Cemetery.
Her legacy of faith, compassion, love, and music will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Mildred will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
