It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred "Millie" Lois Helm, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on August 28, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Louis and Mildred (nee Mitchell) Freese. Millie dedicated her life to the happiness and well-being of those she loved.
Throughout her life, Millie shared her joy with others, whether she was square dancing, playing golf, or delighting in games of cards and dominoes. As an avid walker, she could often be seen walking through Milford and later in her assisted living community, always stopping to smile and say hello to everyone she encountered.
Millie's family meant the world to her, and she cherished the time spent with them. Family picnics, holidays, and birthday celebrations were the highlights of her life, where her laughter and warmth brought everyone together. Millie traveled the world with her husband of 57 years, creating a tapestry of stories and experiences that enriched their lives.
Millie had a bright spirit that lit up every room she entered. She was a go-getter, motivated, and described as a little energizer bunny by those who knew her. Her loyalty and fairness to others shone through in everything she did. Devoutly Catholic, Millie found strength and community through her faith.
Millie was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Joseph R. Helm; Loving mother of Susan (Mark) Flanigan, Joseph (Annette) Helm II, Lisa (James) Craig, and the late Barbara (Johnny) Fields; Cherished grandmother of Dianna, Tony, Debbie, Joseph, Matthew, Kim, Mark, and numerous great grandchildren; Dear sister of Louis (Mary) Freese and Patricia Sloan. Millie was a loving aunt, cousin, and good friend to all who knew her.
Along with her husband, daughter, and parents, Millie is preceded in death by her siblings Jane (surviving husband Ron) Wenninger and Joann Freese.
