Nancy E. Jacobs

September 8, 1952 — May 25, 2016

Our much beloved Nancy E (nee Lusk) Jacobs, born September 8, 1952, crossed over into heaven on May 25, 2016 at the age of 63. Gone too soon with many remaining ambitions, Nancy was brilliant, whimsical, resourceful, talented, and generous. She was preceded in death by Raymond Francis Lusk (former member of the Ohio House of Representatives) and Betty (McAdams) Lusk (former music teacher and choir director who instilled the love of music in her daughters Nancy, Linda Lusk McCachran Brown, and Cindy (Richard) Lusk Herzer, both who reside in Cincinnati). She graduated from Columbus Grove High School in 1970 and graduated from Findlay College in 1974 with a double major in English and Biology. After college, Nancy taught English at Ottoville High School, OH. She married James L. Thompson and had two sons, James Travis (Nicholena) Thompson of Cincinnati, OH, and Joshua (Julie) Ray Thompson of Bethesda, MD. Her sons were her life. Nancy graduated from North Georgia College of Dahlonega, GA, became a registered nurse, and went on to become the Director of Nursing at Montgomery County Nursing Home in Clarksville, TN. Nancy relocated to the Cincinnati area in 1991 and served the Ohio Department of Health for over 20 years as a surveyor of skilled nursing facilities and homes for the developmentally disabled. She then did private consulting to skilled nursing facilities until last summer. Nancy married the love of her life, Albert (Greg) Jacobs on November 10, 2012. She enjoyed spending time in Port Clinton, OH and traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. She devoted much of her time to keeping a warm and comfortable home that included her family of Papillons. She is fondly remembered for her homemade cooking, including numerous holiday treats and candies. Nancy is lovingly remembered for her thoughtful way of turning up unexpectedly with just the right gift, sound advice, and delivering meals just because. Nancy was strongly devoted to all family members and never turned her back to anyone in need. She is dearly missed by her grandchildren Elliott and Gavin (children of Travis and Nicholena Thompson), Samuel and Gwendolyn (children of Joshua and Julie Thompson), her step-children Andrew (Katie) Jacobs, Nicholas (Krista) Jacobs, and Jill Jacobs, her mother-in-law Mary Ellen Jacobs (wife of the late Albert Jacobs), and her sister & brother in laws: Karen (Rick) Hartoin, Mary Beth Bailey, Mark (Debra) Jacobs, and James Jacobs. Heaven has another angel. Visitation will be held at Evans Funeral Home, 1944 SR-28, Goshen, Ohio 45122, on Tuesday evening, May 31, 2016, 6-8p.m. The celebration of life funeral service will be held the following morning Wednesday June 1, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment services and burial will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
