Naomi Merkel age 89, of Milan, Indiana formerly of the Cincinnati area passed Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Ripley Crossing Nursing Center in Milan. She was born July 10, 1928 in Harlan County, Kentucky the daughter of Luther and Annie Hampton Marlar. She retired from the former Keebler Baking Company in Fairfax after almost 40 years of service. She is survived by her children and spouses; Terry Lee & Mary Lou Merkel, Anna Jean & Harles Lambert, James Allen & Donna Merkel, Robert B. Merkel, Alvin Ray & Pam Hunter Merkel, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a sister Juanita (Leroy) Proud. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry, James, Charlie and Howard Marlar. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Evans Funeral Home in Milford with visitation from 10:00 AM until her time of service. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Union.
