It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Otto R. Ridge on August 25, 2025, at the age of 84. Otto was born in Cincinnati, OH, to the late William and Anna (nee Stauder) Ridge. Resident of Union Township.
Otto was a hardworking man who never knew a stranger. To know him was to love him-he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Though his childhood was rough and full of challenges, he grew into a man of strength, resilience, and humor.
In 1964, Otto was drafted into the Army and served bravely in Vietnam as an infantryman with the 1st Infantry Division, the "Big Red One." He was honorably discharged in 1966, carrying with him both the sacrifices and the pride of his service.
Over the years, he owned Fairfax Auto Parts and Wooster Pike Auto Parts, and later found joy in sales with Stone Center of Ohio.
Otto's life was filled with ups and downs, but no matter what came his way, he never lost his sense of humor. He was the funniest man you could ever meet-someone who could brighten a room with just a word or a look. More than anything, Otto was a devoted husband of 60 years to the love of his life, Ruth and a loving father and grandfather, and a man who cared deeply for his family.
We will forever cherish his laughter, his stories, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will live on in each of us.
Otto was the beloved husband of 60 years to Ruth Ann (nee Kaiser) Ridge; Loving father of Jeff (Colette) Ridge, Mark (Malia) Ridge, Kerry (Drew) Royce, Julie (Andy) Conlon, and Jennifer (Adam) Bragg; Cherished grandfather of Cameron, Ryan, Grace, Connor, Noel, Chance Otto, Meradith, Emelia, Collin, Madalyn, Ava, Lola, Lanee, and Jacob; Great-grandfather to Estelle; Dear brother of Larry Ridge. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Along with his parents, Otto is preceded in death by his siblings Jeanne, Bill, Louie, and Lenora.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Veronica Catholic Church. A visitation will take place beforehand beginning at 10:00 AM. Please consider donating in Otto's memory to the St. Jude Research Foundation. (link below)
