Patricia J. Hickey

Patricia Jean Hickey, age 73, passed away peacefully in her home at 6:08 p.m. on Wednesday evening, November 19, 2025, surrounded by her large and loving family. At age 17, Patricia fell in love with her husband, Claude, who she would start her family with. Not long after they wed, when Patricia was 19, they had their first child and began their family. After that, the family never stopped growing.

Family is who Patricia was. Her family was large and full of love. She had a deep, unique bond with each member of her family. She knew how to make each person she met feel seen in the most beautiful way possible-so much so that friends turned into family. She would be there for everyone in the lowest of lows, and no matter the circumstances, she made sure she was there to celebrate your achievements and happiness alongside you. She always put herself second to the needs of others.

To know Patricia was to love her. She could light up a room with just a smile or her lighthearted sense of humor. She was the textbook definition of a perfect mother, grandmother, and wife. She was nurturing and kindhearted; she made her house a home. The door was always open, burger always on the skillet. This home was a safe space. She was a safe space.

As Patricia passes on, she leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years, Claude Hickey; daughter, Tracie Connell (John); son, Ryan Hickey (Lisa); son, Scott Hickey (Amber); step-son Dave Hickey (Barbie); step-daughter Joanne Hickey; granddaughter, Tamera Patton; grandson, Austin Connell; granddaughter, Alyssa Penney (Tyler); grandson, Gavin Hickey (Cassidy); granddaughter, Addison Hickey (Konnor); granddaughter, Gwen Hickey; grandson, Gage Hickey; sister Ida Brinson (Arthur); sister, Bonnie Dietz; and many nieces, nephews, and honorary family members.

Although she leaves behind so many loved ones, she will be reunited with her mother Lola Rickey (nee Bowman); father Walter Rickey; brother Donnie Rickey; and son John Hickey.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Patricia impacted are invited to Evans Funeral Home - 1944 OH-28, Goshen, OH 45122, on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM to remember the beautiful life lived by Patricia Hickey and to support one another during this difficult time. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery.
