It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter Andrew Hecktor, aged 90, who departed this world on November 29, 2025. Born on March 28, 1935, Pete lived a life filled with love, family, and unwavering devotion to the things and people he cherished.
Married for over 58 years to his beloved wife, JoAnn Fenner, Pete was a pillar of strength and kindness, not only in their home but also to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Together, they raised a loving family that includes their sons, Peter J. (Belva) Hecktor and Timothy A. (Sheri) Hecktor. Pete took great pride in his grandchildren: Christine Hecktor, Andrew Hecktor, Timothy, J. (Brandi) Hecktor, Charlie Lenhardt, and Kristopher C. (Tara) Hecktor. He was a delighted great-grandfather to Faith, Hopelyn, Kyler, Leo, Bowen, and Cooper Hecktor, and basked in the joy of becoming a great-great-grandfather to little Jackson.
Pete's love for baseball, particularly his enduring passion for the Cincinnati Reds, was a testament to his spirited nature. He even had the honor of pitching for the team, a source of pride and a cherished memory. A simple man at heart, he found immeasurable joy in the company of his family, the comfort of his dogs, and the beauty of life's fleeting moments.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife JoAnn and his parents, Rose and Pete Hecktor Sr.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Pete's life and the memories he created. Visitation will occur Thursday, December 4th at 10am at Evans Funeral Home in Milford (741 Center Street), with a service to follow at 11am. Burial will occur at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dementia and Alzheimer's Association, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by these challenging conditions.
Peter Andrew Hecktor touched many lives with his humility, humor, and compassion. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
