Peter Beach Webb

Peter Beach Webb, aged 89, died April 6, 2018, at The Wellington in Green Township, Ohio, of natural
causes.

Pete is survived by his son, John M. Webb; and his granddaughter, Caitlyn E. Webb. He is preceeded
in death by his brother, Sheridan Shary Webb; his wife of 37 years and ex-wife of 27 years, Hilda
(Eggleston) Webb; two stillborn sons; and his son, Mylad Kevin Webb.

Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Charles Irving and Helen Jane (Reed) Webb. Peter joined
the U.S. Coast Guard in 1946, and took horses and other livestock to a depleted Poland just after
WWII, sailing on the SS John L. McCarley. Pete served in the Field Artillery in the U.S. Army, 1946-7,
earning the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal, and the
Occupation Ribbon. He was once a member of the Communist Party of the U.S.A., and later a member
of the John Birch Society.

Pete married Hilda Eggleston in 1949 in Indiana. Their first son, Kevin, was born in 1955. Pete earned
a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Toledo, and a Doctor of Arts in Economics
from Indiana University. He taught economics, statistics, and quality control at Xavier University from
1968-1995. Years before the ideas became popular, he discovered and taught about W.E. Deming and
quality control techniques used in post-war manufacturing in Japan.

Pete hit his head on ice in early 2014, and suffered a subdural hematoma. He was in assisted living
since then, and slowly lost his cognitive abilities. His son John and granddaughter Caitlyn visited him
often, and The Wellington at North Bend Crossing gave him excellent care. Pete used to introduce his
son to the staff, saying, he does so much for me, but the staff at the Wellington, starting with
Shandella, did much more than he could, and his surviving family is very grateful.

Pete was creamated, according to his wishes. Visitation will be held at the Evans Funeral Home (741
Center St., Milford, Ohio, 45150, (513) 831.3172) on Tuesday, April 24, at 6:30pm, with a service at
