Phyllis Ila Samoya, beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 98. She was born on October 5, 1926, in Northport, Michigan.
On a cherished Valentine's Day in 1945, Phyllis married the love of her life, Frank Samoya, with whom she shared an incredible 74 years of marriage until his passing on June 23, 2019. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to each other and their family.
Phyllis's heart was deeply rooted in her community of Milford, Ohio, where she served as the playground supervisor for the former Milford South School. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and hearts mirrored her dedication to her own children. She took great pride in her family and served as a pillar of support and love.
A devout member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Phyllis found joy in her faith and was known for her warm smile and kind spirit. She particularly loved the beauty of spring, eagerly anticipating the blooming daffodils and tulips that signaled new beginnings, much like the love she fostered in her life.
Phyllis leaves behind her children and spouses; Michael (Sharman) Samoya, James (Margaret "Peggy") Samoya, the late Father Emmanuel Gary Samayoa (Dr. Anna Silveri-Samayoa), Richard (Karen) Samoya, David Samoya, Mary Seng, Dr. Steven Samoya, Sally (Richard) Dotson, John (Karen) Samoya; 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 21 great, great grandchildren. Along with her husband and son, she was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and her sister and brother-in-law; Berneta (Ted) Kelsch.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on April 25, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at Evans Funeral Home in Milford on April 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest with her husband, Frank, at the St. Andrew Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Phyllis' honor to Hospice of Cincinnati.
Phyllis Ila Samoya will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew her.
