Phyllis June Schneider (née Bastin), age 84, of Miamiville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Born December 7, 1940, in Walltown, Kentucky, Phyllis was the only child of the late Lena and Dennie Bastin, and together they lived a rural life in Casey County, Kentucky.
Her family moved to Norwood, Ohio, when she was in grade school. Phyllis graduated from Norwood High School in 1958. She was clever and curious, regularly seeking opportunities to learn new skills. Before starting a family, she worked for the United States Atomic Energy Commission, assisting engineers with top-secret nuclear energy development.
On June 7, 1969, Phyllis married Robert (Bob) Schneider, beginning a 56-year partnership filled with love, adventure, and devotion. Together, they traveled the world, balancing Bob's flying schedule with entertaining friends and living a full family life at home with their three active children.
They both spent their later years together in Miamiville, where Phyllis loved her many pets, delighted in watching wildlife, and was an avid reader who enjoyed word games and puzzles. She found joy in sharing family recipes, hosting visits with loved ones, and taking immense pride in her children and four granddaughters.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Robert Schneider; daughter Paula Schneider (Mark Pendell); son Robert Schneider, Jr., and his daughters Morgan and Katrina Schneider; and son Louis Schneider (Carri Schneider) and their daughters Josephine and Beatrice Schneider.
A private burial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, where she will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery in Miamiville, Ohio.
We invite family and friends to join us to celebrate her life on Sunday, August 17, 2025, 11 am-1 pm at The Remington Room, 7813 Ted Gregory Rd. Montgomery, Ohio 45242.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, an organization she enthusiastically supported throughout her life.
