Rev. Norman James Rehmer (84), of Goshen, Ohio, passed away on July 1, 2023. He was born January 30th, 1939, to the late Roland and Alma Rehmer in Iowa County, Iowa.
He attended Concordia Teachers college in River Forest, IL. and graduated in 1961. He then served as a teacher and principal for 23 years.
In 1983, he entered Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1986, he was ordained and installed as Pastor at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Norwood, Ohio. He continued to faithfully serve the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in South Dakota and Iowa for an additional 21 years. He retired in 2004 as the Education and Youth Executive for the Iowa East District. After retirement, he moved to Goshen, Ohio and filled vacancies for congregations in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather with an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends, family, and all he ministered. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by Arlene his devoted wife of 62 years and sons, Brian (Maureen) Rehmer of Fort Wayne, IN and Randy (Janet) Rehmer of Milford, OH; siblings, Loren (Marge) Rehmer of Prior Lake, MN , Donna (Kenny) Tarrillion of Perryville, MO, Robert (Irene) Rehmer of Maple Grove, MN , Ruth (Lynn) Card of Citrus Springs, FL, Patti (Dennis) Hogan of Bocca Raton, FL; and grandchildren Elizabeth Rehmer (Mike Greene) of Indianapolis, IN, Katie (Luke) Alliger of Winsted, MN, Laura (Josh) Gore of Indianapolis, IN, Lindsey Rehmer of Milford, OH, and Taylor Rehmer of Milford, OH.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Milford, OH on Saturday, July 8 at 12:00 PM. Visitations will be held Friday, July 7th from 5 PM to 8 PM and Saturday July 8th from 11 AM to 12 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and School Education Expansion Program, an organization Norman felt strongly about.
