Richard A Day

Richard A. Day, beloved husband of Janet (nee Albright) Day passed away December 16, 2023. Richard was the devoted father of Laura Shelton, Anne Barger, Richard Day, and Michael Day, father-in-law to Wendell Shelton, Randy Barger, Selina Day and Cassandra Day, and is survived by 12 grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Brennan and Brady Shelton, Hannah and Alec Barger, Whitney Day, Cooper and Joseph Day, and Luke, Noah, and Ava Schibley, four great-grandchildren, Beckett, Charlotte, Elsie and Andie Shelton, and siblings Mary Jo Luther, Kathy Allen, and Tony Day. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard H. Day, Josephine (nee Mueller) Day, stepmother Gertrude Day, and brothers Donald and Steven Day.

Richard was born in Colerain Township, Ohio and served as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic in Thailand. After working as a machinist at Proctor and Gamble, Richard began a career at Gulf Oil in Ohio, and as Gulf Oil transitioned to Chevron, he worked as a manager in the Chevron plants in Port Arthur and Baytown, Texas, and retired from Chevron in Marietta, Ohio. Richard was honored to serve the Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister, was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and served the Diocese of Beaumont, Texas as a District Deputy in the Knights of Columbus.

Richard loved his family and spent many years supporting his children in their love of horses at horse shows and the Butler County Fair, and in their many school activities. He had a passion for Ohio State University Football and having his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered for any occasion was his greatest joy. There are many stories his family can tell with pride and laughter, and Richard had many friends because he never knew a stranger.

Visitation will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Milford Saturday December 23, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 AM followed by Mass at 10:00 AM. After Mass there will be a committal service in the chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
