Richard Carl Freund

Richard was born in Dearborn, MI. His family moved to Traverse City, MI. in 1969. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1981 with a Masters in Business Administration and a Minor in Journalism.
Richard married Sally Reisenfeld in Cincinnati in 1993. They had one son Aaron Cameron Freund. Aaron died in 2018, at the age of 24 years.
Richard was an Entrepreneur. After leaving his corporate job in 1991 he formed his own company, Lifesafer Interlock Inc. He invented the Ignition Interlock device, for which he received a U.S. patent. When the company sold in 2012, Richard employed five hundred employees throughout the United States. The company engaged hundreds of distributors nationwide. Richard created opportunities for many individuals. He treated his employees with the upmost respect, fairness, and dignity. His employees loved him for his kindness, fairness, and respect for all.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Phyllis Freund, and his son Aaron Freund. He is survived by his wife, Sally Freund, brother Edward Freund (Tammie), sister Nancy Freund, brother-in-law Daniel Reisenfeld, Nephews Raymond Freund (Colleen) and Joshua Reisenfeld.
Richard enjoyed hitting the tennis ball to his dogs Brady and Kayla. He also enjoyed many years of watching Aaron play sports. He loved travel, music, golf, fly-fishing, gardening and best of all, being a great father and husband.
Many will remember Richard as an intelligent, hardworking, man with a great sense of humor. He loved having conversations, debates, and listening and telling stories to everyone he met. Richard's moto was "Never give up".
A celebration of his life will be October 16, 2021 from 4PM to 7PM, at the Ivy Hills Country Club, 7711 Ivy Hill Boulevard, Cincinnati, OH 45244.
Donations in Richards name can be sent to the Cincinnati Nature Center, at 4949 Tealtown Road, Milford OH 45150. The nature center has been a special place for the family for many years.
