Richard Lee Kridler, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 15, 1943, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the youngest of three boys born to Betty and Fred Kridler. Raised in the heart of Poland, Ohio, Dick was a proud graduate of Poland Seminary High School and continued his education at Kent State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, focusing his studies on Political Science.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Kristin Kridler Leggett, and her husband Jeff, whose family includes his granddaughters, Elizabeth Grantz (Sam) and Morgan Hughes (Jared), as well as his grandson, Cameron Leggett. He spent his final years living with his daughter and son-in-law's family in Milford, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his beloved son Derik Kridler (Jackie), his devoted wife Cathy, his adored brothers Doug and Jack, and his loyal dog, Rusty.
Dick's career journey began in social work in Ohio before moving to Michigan in 1989, where he transitioned into a career in transportation, ultimately concluding his professional journey working with the Environmental Protection Agency.
Dick was known for his engaging yet quirky personality, possessing a deep desire to connect with others, sparking conversations and debates over a drink, and looking for ways to laugh and "have some fun" whenever someone was willing. He was an affectionate man who enjoyed people, words in both puzzles and books, a beautiful yard, visiting with neighbors, and taking his dog wherever he would venture. He would talk of touring on a motorcycle, traveling to warmer places, and eating quality HOT food. He was, however, also content to simply hang on his porch reading whatever he could find to read.
A visitation will be held on May 13, 2025, from 4:00-6:00PM at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, Ohio.
Richard Lee Kridler will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of calling him a friend, a mentor, and a loving family member.
