Richard "Rosie" Rose

April 30, 1934 — June 19, 2024

Richard "Rosie" Rose, a beloved member of the Goshen community and former fire chief of Goshen Twp. Fire Department, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on April 30, 1934, to Iona and Lou Rose in Cincinnati, OH. Rosie was a dedicated family man and a respected figure as a skilled mechanic.


Throughout his life, Rosie's commitment to serving his country was evident as he proudly served in the United States Air Force, signing up in 1954. While he was busy with training in different states like California, Chanute, Indiana. While in Chanute, he purchased a set of rings and came home and married Anita Suzanna Robinson on August 29, 1955. They were married for 60 years until Anita passed away in 2015. They went to Rocky Fork outside of Hillsboro, Ohio and spent their honeymoon. They then moved to Dover, Delaware where they lived while he was in the service. They started their family, with the first four of their kids were born in Dover. They then moved back to Madeira followed by moving to Loveland, Ohio.


He started his fire career at the age of 14 years old alongside with his father Lou Rose in Indian Hill/Madeira Fire Dept., then moved to Loveland where he started his career there with the Loveland Fire Dept. followed by Fayetteville Fire Dept. He then moved to Goshen where he ran with the Goshen Fire Dept. as well as the Stonelick Twp. Fire Dept. He retired after 64 years of service of firefighting. His expertise in the field extended beyond his professional life, sparking an interest in collecting antique firefighter items, a cherished hobby he held close to his heart.


Rosie is the loving husband to the late Anita Robinson Rose, devoted father to Rick Rose, Susan Rose (Tony) Bitzer, Johnny (Patsy) Rose, Matthew (Sharon Teece) Rose, Mark (Nancy) Rose, Robert (Vicky) Rose and Janie Rose (Dave) May. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, also survived by sister Eileen Rose Havens, brothers Tim Rose, Kenny Rose, and the late David Rose, brother-in-law of Carol (Jim) Cobb.


Rosie's legacy as a devoted respected community member will forever be treasured by those who knew him. His impact on those around him, both in the fire service and in his personal life, leaves a lasting memory of compassion and dedication.


In commemoration of his life, the family will receive friends at Eastside Christian Church, 5874 Montclair Blvd, Milford, OH 45150, on Tuesday, June 25th from 4-7 PM with a Fire Chief Service at 7 PM. On Wednesday, a service honoring Rosie's contribution to his community and his unwavering commitment to his loved ones will be held at the church, beginning at 10 AM. Burial will follow with Fire Service Honors and Military honors at Goshen Cemetery.


Rosie will be remembered for his unwavering spirit and his passion for service. May he rest in peace.
