Robert Harry Benhase, 98, passed away on 10/20/2020.

Born in Cincinnati to Harry and Alice (Mack) Benhase, brother of the late JoAnn (Rohdenburg) and Donald Benhase, he attended Deer Park schools. During and after high school he played trumpet and led a big band that entertained at small venues around Cincinnati. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the US Navy in January 1942 and served as a Sonarman 1st Class on the USS San Diego CL-53 until October 1945, then joined the Navy Reserves for 8 years. Bob was past commander of VFW Post #3744 and a member of the Milford American Legion.

Bob married Joan (Billiter) Benhase in 1952 and they lived life together fully for more than 68 years. He worked for 30 years as a licensed electrician for the Ford Motor Company. He was an avid ham radio operator, amateur pilot, golfer and handyman who could fix anything. A true lifelong learner, after retirement he took classes, built 2 computers from scratch, earned an Associates degree in business management and a real estate license.

Bob is survived by his wife Joan, children Linda (David) Rockwell and Gregory Benhase, grandsons Ryan (Amy) and Nicholas (Sarah) Benhase and great-grandchildren Jericho and Anna.

Visitation will be held at the Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center St., Milford, OH on Thursday October 22nd from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 2:45 PM at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45241.
